Hi all, anyone aware of a local source for georgia yellow p[ine in the los angeles area? if not, a good (relatively inexpensive) substitute for building the $175 work bench. The pine I am finding at the big orange box is pretty wet and warped. thanks Eric in L.A.

As you have noticed, the big orange box is NOT a lumber yard! I'd start with that tried and true ancient technology - the yellow pages, under lumber. There have got to be a ton of them in the LA area. And pretty much every one of them will have better quality, and more variety, than any of the big box stores.
I have usually gone to bonhoff's, swaner's or arroyo hardwoods, but I have not seen yellow pine. I'll give 'em a call though to see if I missed it. any suggestions for other material besides yellow pine for the $175 workbench?
Try Bonhoff. They are just east of downtown L.A. (213) 263-9361
