Hi,
I am new to this forum so bear with me. I am a professional wood worker of over 25 yrs. Recently I have been making a lot of chancel furniture for churches but I’m having trouble finding a source of carved appliques and panels to use, Does anyone know of a source other than having them custom done? Thanks for your help.

Duane,
The Van Dyke's Restorers catalog has a pretty good selection of carved appliques, corbels, finials, etc. http://www.vandykes.com.
Just curius, how did you get started in church furniture? I've built quite a bit of items (cabinets, furniture, etc.) at our own church, and have considered advertising to other local churches. Any tips on marketing appreciated. GP
Thanks for your reply. I have all the usual catalogs but very little is of the religious type, the interlocking circles, gothic arches, doves etc. I have done some of this myself but i'm not fast enough to be profitable. I would rather purchase carving and stick to something I am better at.
As for how I got into church furniture, it was strictly by word of mouth. People on the building comittees knew of me or had employed me at some time. I have found advertising to give very poor results. Having the reputation and knowing people, architects and designers has helped me the most , but that takes time. Sorry I have no sure fire advice but keep working the personal contacts.
Thanks Duane
