Hello all
I love the look of spalted woods, My question is,Is there a way to make normal woods look as if thay are spalted?
The majestic hues and streeks, can be breath takeing, but the problem is, How do I match it with other woods that dont have spalting?
Dose anyone know a trick to mimic this natural process?I’ve tried but…
Thanks in advance. C.A.G.

there's no artificial way to truly capture spalt, but you can cultivate it in logs and possibly individual boards. Some magazine published an article about once. Basically, you need to keep the material in conditions that will promote decomposition. I think the trick is in the monitoring and removing it at the right time.
Thank you DAVEHEINLEINfor responding.
I understand that the Spalting is cause from a fungus.
And when I can find it, I do by spalted maple, or ash, I was hoping that WITH the great amount of knowledge here on this woodworking forum that someone may have figured out how to simulate natures beauty without having to go through this natural process.
I am building a dresser using spalted maple, and just do not have enough to complete the job appropriately, so I was wondering if there was some kind of dye or artists supplies that might be suitable for simulating the spalting.
Thanks again
sincerely C.A.G.
