I have used some old spar varnish and run into a drying problem.
When I used it on raw wood, it dried within a couple of days.
When I used in on epoxy resin, it is drying extremely slowly – two weeks so far and counting. Putting it in the sun, when available, does hasten the drying process somewhat, but it’s still happening at a snail’s pace.
What is the reasonable “wet” life expectancy of spar varnish in order to avoid the above drying problems?
Can anything be added to what I have left in the can to make it dry properly? … or do I just dispose of it.
Thanks for your input!

Dierk,
Most spar varnishes will dry to the touch in around 4 hours, dry for sanding in around 12 hours, dry for use in 24 hours; this of course will be dependent on temperature and humidity conditions.
I think it is time to dispose of the can you now have and buy a new can. Once a can has been opened, don't expect a very long shelf life at all. I always wipe down the lid and the lip of the can with mineral spirits or turpentine immediately after opening a can, but this is not a cure for over a month in my experience. I buy all my varnish on a "as needed" basis, depending on the amount left I either look for something else to varnish or dispose of it.
