I'm thinking no. The speed reducers are designed for DC and universal motors and not for AC motors which bench grinders usually have. I don't know if you'd goof up your reducer but you might. Consider buying a slower speed grinder, 1725 rpm. I've seen them for about $70 and then you'd have 2 grinders. Or a grinder head that you can pulley to a DC motor that you can control speed.

No. Induction motors, as used on most shop machines, are fixed speed motors. A 60-Hz 2-pole motor will run at a no-load speed of about 3600 rpm, but as the load increases the motor will slow to a full-load speed of about 3450 rpm. Speed adjustments must be made mechanically, such as on a lath or drill press.
No but Woodcraft has a two speed grinders that works well.
