I know I am picky to the extreme and try to deal with it. However sometimes it is difficult.
Why, in speaking of refining the edge of a piece of furniture we do not wish to damage, does Mr Johnson show us how to sand uphill? He had only two options and dives into the mire. I have yet to receive the magazine, but are we supposed to be guided by reviews written by someone crossing on a red light? Also, I cannot easily identify which machine is which from the video.
I do not doubt he is a good guy, but there is a serious need for some proof-reading at Taunton Press.

I use a spindle sander regularly but don't have the video.
As an analogy, it's like cutting on the tablesaw, going "uphill" pushing the work into the cut. It's far easier to control the stock this way as it is on all similar applications.
