Hello,
On a recent bookcase project while trying to create the back panel rabbet, my Systematic stacked dado cutters were not cutting a flat bottom ravvet. I tried several different arrangements of cutters and one cutter always seemed to be a little too deep, and even angled from being flat. Has anyone had this experience? Could it be from a buildup of MDF adhesive or sap material on the cutter edge?
Thanks,
John

John,
Is it always the same cutter that is too deep? I use a DML carbide stacked dado set and the bottoms are always smooth. While I am not familier with Systematic, things to check for would be correct outside blade, perfect 90 degree blade to table, cutter diameter. FWIW
Dano
*John: Seems likely that one blade of the dado set may be a little larger in dia. than the others. If so,this is easily corrected by regrinding.Remember that the diameters of the chippers,ie inside cutters, must be slightly smaller than the scoring teeth of the outside saws. PAT
*John, i had a simular problem with my delta stacked dado. It always had what I guess you call a groove on the bottom. I took it back got another because one of the teeth on either the chipper or blade wasnt ground to the same dim. as the others in the set. got a new one it worked fine. By the way used a systematic dado over the week end its a nice cutter.
*John I have had this problem twice once with a Systematic dado set and once with a Freud set. The Systematic set had a bad blade ,it was not ground right. The sharpening service fixed it for the cost of sharpening one blaid rather than the hole set. PS not my first problem with systematic )-:The other time I was ready to swear up and down that it was the same problem but the sharpening guy stopped me from sending it out and pointed out that the table saw we were using had a vary deep thread on the shaft and the out side blades could move up and down so they where not alined when the nut was tighten leaving a ruff, out of square cut. I cant remember what kind of saw it was, it was a 14" saw that we used 10" blades on maybe an early SCM ?Any way check that first Chris
*In the market for a dado set. Which is best...Freud or Systematic?? How about the inexpensive one from Woodcraft??
