Another question;(or two) I have my wood stacked & stickered for storage before using.
(1) What should I use on the ends of the wood to seal it?
(2) It is not planed to within 1/8″, would this be a problem?
Thanks
Doc.

There are many types of sealers,but all I ever use is a cheap water based latex paint and I have never had any problems,always worked great for me and many folks I know do the same green wood and all.Good luck

I use Anchor Seal (commercial ) end sealer,but anything will do ok. I'm not sure whtat you mean by the fact that it is not planed to within 1/8 inch. Unless you are wanting them milled for some very specific reason (like the guy down the street needs 200 bf of 7/8 inch boards) thereis not reason to worry about the thickness. The only potential negative is that thicker takes longer to dry.
I think thicker is sometimes better. Thaty way you have the choice to use any thickness that looks right for each board. Most often I find non-conventional thicknesses often look best. Even 3/64 of an inch can make a big design difference of what looks good and what looks great. Don't get locked into what thicness something is suppose to be. Always see what looks and feels right for each part of the peice. Also you can always resaw. I think if you resaw your furniture can look better anyway. This may sound odd, but the mindset of resawing to suite the specific needs of the piece hightens sensitivity to the subtlies of the design. Hope this is useful.

Glad I could help out,I also use wax on small pieces,just heat it up and dip the end,but then I have a great deal of that at my disposal(free)Good luck. ken
Peter ;
That might not have been the right answer but it did answer a question I had been thinking about also, different thickness for different projects. Not using the same 4/4 for all jobs etc.
Thanks
