I am working with a cabinet maker and tryin desperately to achieve a taupe/natural color stain on white oak. He has tried using a white/cream based stain and then a darker glaze over to highlight the grain, however the overall tone keeps having a pink hue. How can we avoid this? Bleaching the wood first and then staining it? The attached photo is what I am trying to achieve. We have tried a ton of different variations and nothing is working. I would appreciate any and all help! Thank you

You might want to try using a chemical wash instead of a stain. These use chemicals to react with the natural wood tannins to give the look of natural aged woods. You can make home brews but I have had good luck with this company's products.

If you have already stain the piece it may not work but hopefully you were doing test pieces first.
PS. I recommend you order a couple of different blends that are close to what you want to test on your wood because results can vary depending on the tannins in your boards.
Thank you for the help
You should be able to find your color here, they have good products. https://generalfinishes.com/all-colors
