Old deck on house need sprucing up. Deck made of green treated 2×4’s and deck boards. What happens if I stain the thing? Should I power wash it prior to staining? Should I just use the Thompson wood preservative? Need some advice!
Thanks.

We had to replace the deck on our cottage a few years ago. We replaced it with treated lumber. When we bought the wood wewere told to let it weather a year before we stained it. After the year was up we stained with a colored stain to match the trim on the cottage. That was about six years ago and we will have to re- stain it this year. Otherwise the deck is still in great shape.
