Am trying to match the color of a newly installed cabinet with that of knotty pine kitchen cabinets that have been in place for in excess of 15 years and have that mellowed pine tone. No idea what cabinets were finished with. The cabinets are face framed – I used a knotty pine veneer on the curved face of the new cabinet. Any ideas on how to create the same mellowed tone on the new cabinets?

Reid,
FWIW, I have shared here before how difficult it is to match new wood with old. In short, back in the early 80s I was commissioned to do some built in cabinets out of Cherry to match a Cherry mantle piece. Took me close to 60 hours to finally get the match. Never again.
My only recommendation would be to apply Bulls Eye Sealer & Finish orange shellac, uncut. I have done this in the past with "matching" knotty pine. With the appropriate disclaimer of course.
