Customer is requesting a stainless steel (or look alike) grill (mesh) in two doors of a cabinet I have made for them. I have used galvanized chicken wire in the past however the piece is too fine for this product. Rockler has grille material however it is all brass. Does anyone know where I could find such a product?
Thanks Dan

Constantines has some antique pewter in addition to the brass stuff. Not sure if I've ever seen stainless anywhere.
If you build it - he will come.
First place I would look is McMaster-Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com My browser won't display their web site, so I don't know if they have stainless chicken wire specifically. My 15 year old hardcopy catalog has a bunch of different SS meshes.
My copy is pushing that old too. They sure don't like giving out their catalogies unless you buy ALOT from them
I heard a rumor a few years back that McMaster-Carr finally saw the light on catalogs. I haven't needed one bad enough recently to call and find out, though. Maybe the fact the MSC will ship a catalog to anybody who asks nudged them in the right direction. It's interesting the ways different companies try to reduce costs. Does Grainger still refuse to sell to anybody who doesn't have a resale tax number?
Hi,
What you are looking for is called "wire cloth". It is widely used in
industry but also can be great in cabinetry.
The variety out there is vast. Any thing from micron weaves to widely
spaced thick wires. Metals range from S.S. to brass, bronze, galv. etc.
You can also find flat wire as well as rounded.
Here are a couple sites.

You might try looking it up your yellow pages for a local dealer.
There is no substitute for being able to see the different materials.
Good luck!
Tom
Thanks to all. I've already found a local supplier.
