I am using throughout my house a 10 inch baseboard. I have a stair with 6 inch steps. I would like to know how to determine the correct height for the baseboard surrounding the stair? At what point do I start to climb from the bottom baseboard and where do I end at the landing? I also have a problem on how to transition from the end of the stair into a turn on the landing. How to transition with the baseboard from the stair to the landing and turn to the stair again. Perhaps I can not explain myself clear. I am attaching pictures.
Thanks

Hi Amaury:
We're mostly furniture makers here so baseboard is not exactly our expertise. However, I have done my fair share of home improvement projects that involved installing baseboard so I can tell you how I tackled this.
The technique I followed, which is pretty standard, is to use a 10 in. to 12 in. wide board for the stair baseboard and cut it into a "reverse stringer." Basically, you will cut the inverse of your stair rise and run into the board so that the top edge of the baseboard is a straight line. That probably doesn't make much sense so I attached a crude line drawing and embedded it below.View Image
It comes out so that the stair baseboard ranges from 10 in. wide (or 12-in. wide) to just a few inches wide where the baseboard is positioned over the corner of the stair.
Write back and let me know if I'm answering your question clearly.
