Did Stanley discontinue making the 271 small router plane?
Does anyone know a source for replacement irons.
Thanks
Jim

Yes, they have been discontinued. Check Garrett Wade, they may have replacement cutters. If they don't then you'll have to resort to the antique dealers.
I checked at Garret Wade a couple of weeks ago and they don't have any more.If you find them somewhere please post it,I'd greatly appreciate it.

Stanley still sells all the parts:

“When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think...that a time is to come when those (heirlooms) will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, ‘See! This our father did for us.’ “ --John Ruskin.
Jim,
The Stanley site had cutters for the big router but not the small one, unless I missed something.
If you don't mind doing a little metal work, you can make a replacement blade from a hex key. A 3/16" or 5mm key will fit into the #271 router without modification. A 7/32" key will need the sharp edges on the hex ground down slightly to fit the hole in the router body. The 3/16" and 5mm will give you a finished blade slightly narrower than the original cutter, the width of the 7/32" key will be close to the full width of the original.
Through pure luck, the flats on the hex are perfectly aligned to give a surface for the router's set screw to bear on and keep the cutter aligned properly.
To make the key work you will have to slightly bend open the right angle corner of the key to match the down slope of the bottom of the original blade and then grind away the outer half of the key's short arm to get the cutter shape.
If you are careful with grinding, or use a water cooled wheel, you should be able to get the shape down without losing the temper of the steel. If you use a brand name hex key the steel in it should make a good blade. I suspect that the hex keys you get with some power tools are cheap low carbon steel and they won't take and hold a good edge.
Hope this helps,
John W.

I just checked the site and the small cutters are on page 3 of the plane section.
