The first plane I found I needed was a rabbet plane as my rabbeting technique using the dado blade on my tablesaw was not as accurate as I hoped…I called my local Woodcraft store and all they had in stock was a Stanley 90 and I bought it…since that time I’ve learned considerably more about planes and own several LNs, LVs and even an ECB…but I fine that the 90 works well for rabbeting…is it an exception to the general observation that Stanley’s aren’t any good anymore or am I just too new at this to know the difference?

I have an 90 type 1 that I got on the cheap ($30) and bought it after good experiences with the 92, which I purchased new.
Great for fitting tenons too.
I have a #90. I believe these are made in the UK (at least mine was). It is a good "rebating" plane, required a bit of fettling and honing to get right. On the other hand, when I compare it with a LV shoulder or LN plane, it's not really in the same league.Glaucon
