Hello folks !
I’ve got a woodworking tool problem that is causing me grief. I have a Bostitch CWC 156 compressor that I bought a few years ago. I bought it as a kit (CPAK100 I think). Anyway, the Start/Run Capcitor has gone south and the authorized repair shops say it will cost 53-55 bucks for the replacement part. We’re not talking about installation here, just the part.
The cap is a 60mfd 330V, two pole (1/4″ quick connect), bottom mount, plastic case unit and I have found similar 53-64mfd 330V caps at Grainger and a few other places. I would prefer a direct replacement but would accept a suitable unit if available. The Grainger price was about 8 bucks plus a 2 watt drain resistor (about 1.00 each).
Can anyone advise on a suitable replacement cap or where I might find an OEM cap that is more realistically priced.
Thanks Much
James

Can't think of any reason not to buy the Grainger part: As long as the voltage rating is adequate and the mF close, it should be fine. If it doesn't fit in your present box/location, just modify a little, or consider moving it (to a cooler spot, maybe?)
Every time I find $40 on the floor, I make a point of picking it up.
good luck
The Grainger part will work...
The OEM part is all mark up...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming....
WOW!!! What a Ride!

James,
I've over the past 20 years, I've purchased a ton of stuff from :
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/
They carry almost everything at great prices. I didn't do a hard search, but my guess is $5.00 to $10.00 for that cap. Good luck.
BTW, What makes you think it's the cap?
Jon
