Well, I finally did it, I have been talking about it for a while, but I did it!
I rented about 1400 ft sq shop near my house. I used to be a contractor, but have had a few surgeries that didn’t work so well. So when my lumber guy offered me the store space, I took it. Hey its got heat and air, frontage on a busy highway and it is CHEAP. So I decided to go for it, and try to make enough $$ to pay the rent and take my wife and I out to dinner once in a while.
I spent the last couple of afternoons walling off a showroom, and building a “playroom for my 20 month old, so he can spend time with me while his mommy is at work. I cant work a “real job”, (I can only stand up for about 30 mins at a time without laying down for a while), so his playroom, is my break room too.
I will take some pics as it goes along.
I cant wait to be able to set up the new Jet Cabinet saw I bought last month, its just been sitting in the garage waiting for some room to move. (old shop was my wife’s side of garage. LOL)
talk to yins later

Good luck with the new venture. I'm sure you are glad to get the space. Post some pics when the opportunity arises so we can share your pride.

John,
Big step and probably a bit scary. I'll be doing the same thing in a few years when I quit my real job and work at what I love. What a great way to be wtih your daughter! Good luck and let us know if we can help.

Congrats, John! Wishing you the most success you can imagine!
