I am looking for a pattern for a steamer chair. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would appreciate it. I haven’t been able to find a thing.
Thanks,
Wilson

What does a Steamer Chair look like?
*Popular Woodworking had an article on the Titanic steamer chair in last months issue. It can be seen on their web site: http://www.popularwoodworking.com/.
*Wilson, the issue William is refering to is July 99 #109. I just picked up a copy and intend on building the chair, Rick
*Rick / Have you built the Titanic deck chair yet. I too picked up a copy of the plans in the Popular Woodworking magazine (7/99).I didn't feel the construction instructions were very complete.I posted a message here also suggesting that the back slats be cut using a plexiglass pattern and a router with a straight bit and pattern guide. Any thoughts?Len
*Len - seems like you might like a "I did it" post. I came accross the pattern as you saw mentioned in PW. and nearly the same time in a mail order catalog and I made several dozen hybrids for my past year customers as a holiday gift. One of the best thoughts I have ever had. Almost 100% callback's for more. That blew me away, I design/build homes, not furniture. As for making the chair, if you know how to duplicate curves on a bandsaw, it is a cinch to make. And in retrospective the cuts lend themselves to multiple chairs to eliminate waste. As for the router? Sounds like a waste of wood to me, althogh I have done this on a couple of rocking chairs. My only regret is using mahogany, I have to keep using it to match predecessors. I think with a little thickening of pieces I could easily substitute other hardwoods, a fine line on the looks though.
