I would be interested in hearing the opinions or impressions from anyone who has purchased/tested a Steel City table saw…specifically the smaller #35601. I’ve read the review in the latest edition of Popular Woodworking, but would like to get some other perspectives.
Thanks!!

I've never seen a Steel City tool in person, so take this FWIW, but maybe there's some useful info for you.
My understanding is that SC and Orion are associated. Orion makes the new Craftsman "zipcode" hybrids that have been well received. It's also my understanding that the 35601 is very similar to the 22124...having the same cabinet mounted trunnion structure, motor, drive train, and several other parts. The SC version has some different accessories than the Craftsman and is sold with a 5 year warranty. I've also heard rumor that some of the SC machines come with a rust resistant TiN coating on the cast iron, but I'm not sure which ones. The feedback that I've read about from owners has been very positive.
Steel City's website has quite a bit of info...

Morning dmgccp..
If your referiing to the SC hybrid, you will find it it very, very similar to the Craftsman hybrid mentioned. And it should be as Mark Strahler (one of the owners of SC along with Scott Box0 broke from Delta and formed Orion which makes it for Craftsman. He was a key designer of the Orion which he still has ties to along with his new SC duties.
The SC is basically the same saw as the Orion (Craftsman) but a few changes in the gut gives it a little tigheter table flatness. The 5 year warranty gives you a little more leverage if you consider the long haul.
Hope that helps...
