Was messin around today and wound some steel wool onto a rubber spindle that I use for sanding on my lathe. The spindle is mounted into a drill chuck and is a 1/2″ steel rod with a 3/4″ rubber sleeve. The sleeve was purchased at Sears Hardware.
Anyway, turning at 1800 rpm it worked pretty good for final smoothing (after initial sanding) of my handles.
What I’d like to do is explore this more. Anyone ever seen anything like this commercially?

Never seen anything on a spindle, just pads. Can't remember if they were made for ROS or 1/4-sheet or what. Sounds cool.
