I need to start storing some wood in my shop. It has a cement floor. So I have two questions:
1. How far off the floor must the initial row of lumber be, to avoid absorbing moisture from the cement floor and,
2. Assuming 3 – 4″ is sufficient, can I use a 4″ x 4″ pressure treated post for the initial sticker?

3-4 inches of clearance is certainly enough to allow for proper circulation, and 4x4's are certainly OK for the the bottom sticker course. However, to keep the possibility of moisture wicking to near zero, I would lay a piece of tarpaper or plastic over the concrete under my pile of lumber and this should eliminate any potential for moisture wicking via the concrete.
I would also use a thinner sticker placed directly on top of the 4x4 to reduce the surface area in contact with the sticker. Dead air will cause black lines in the wood so the thinner the stickers (in width) the better.
