I want to wax an item I’ve made but also make a molding from light colored Oroco Is there anyway to prevent the Oroco from turning dark brown.

sure you don't mean Iroko?

To the best of my knowledge there is no way of stopping Iroko from changing colour. But some of it is a darker shade right from the beginning and this goes a very dark brown-see the mirror cabinet. If you select the lighter stuff it darkens to a lighter brown or honey colour.
You can slow it down by applying a shellac sealer coat, but what is the point?
