Strategy for repairing broken plywood corner
My daughter has a “long board” e.g. a long skateboard. The deck is 5/8″ plywood, and is shaped to a point at both ends. One end struck a wall at speed and the plywood has splintered and mushroomed back about 3/4 of an inch. The top of the deck is pretty straight still but the bottom is spintered down.
I was thinking of gluing it up and clamping it, but was worried that some of the shards that are hanging on now may just break off if I start moving them back into position with a clamp.
What tips would you offer to me before I get started so I can improve things and not make them worse?

Geoff,
Once the wood is that badly damaged it really can't be restored to anywhere near full strength and even at full strength the board got broken. Why not just cut away the damage and reshape the end?

Geoff,
You tell us that "the skateboard hit a wall 'at speed'" - but you don't mention what happened to your daughter. How is she?
