Yeah, I know this isn’t quite a fine woodworking question, but thought I would ask anyway. I stained a new cedar deck with a water-based semi-stransparent stain, and absolutely hate the look. I want to strip it off and start over. I know there are some products you can buy at the home center, but am looking for a home remedy and some sage advice.
thanks.

USE Linseed based OIL stain! Just me..
Pressure washer should remove most if it.. Be sure it has dried for a few days before re-coating.. Two or three coats.. Wet-On-Wet...
what about using some diluted bleach on it prior to pressure washing? That seems to be a common approach.
I power sanded mine off with a rented circular hand held floor sander. I have a large deck and it went very quick. About 2 hours of steady sanding down to bare wood. My deck 5/4" cedat.
