One of my grandchildren put a sucker, still in the wrapper, on a cherry desk. It is stuck. The funiture is of top commercial quality but I do not know what sort of finish is over the stain.
How do I get this up without damaging anything?

Jeeze Jerry, not knowing the finish makes it kinda hard. Have you tried licking it off?
b ;)
Seriously, though, did the sucker "melt" through the wrapper into the finish by sitting in the sun? Is it a cellophane wrapper or wax paper wrapper? Is it just stuck or actually embedded into the finish? What kind of sucker, Tootsie Pop, Slo Poke, or one of those 2 cent jobbies?
Maybe something as simple as a wet cloth will dissolve it enough to pull it off, if that does work clean the surface completely, dry it, and re polish it.

*Dano; It is now all off except a syrupy type goo. It is probably sugar goo.I would assume that the finish is one of those crosslin type. I think I will give it the old warm water treatment and see if that works. Then again I may see if "Hints from Heloise" has a web site.Jerry
*Jerry,I'm sure the warm water will work just fine. Aren't grand kids great?!b ;)Dano
*My father has a bumper sticker that reads;" If I'd have known that grandkids were this much fun...I would have had them first!"
*The warm water did great. I waited until the wife was out. I work better without "supervision"
*LOL, kinda thought you would be able to handle it okay.Dano
