Student seeking international hand tool woodcraft connections
I am planning a year abroad to explore the dynamics of education in hand tool woodcraft and I am looking for contacts who are engaged in education either with apprentices or teaching lessons in countries other than the U.S. I am currently looking at Japan, Norway, New Zealand, Ecuador, Scotland, China, Tanzania but any connection would be super helpful. If anyone knows anyone with connections to woodcraft in these countries or elsewhere that might be interested in helping a student by allowing me to engage in the process of passing down craft knowledge, please let me know. Thank you!

In New Zealand, the Centre for Fine Woodworking in Nelson is probably the premier centre for learning more advanced skills, especially hand tools. Most larger cabinet shops train apprentices, but this is not formalised like perhaps a plumber or an electrician as there is no requirement to have a qualification to do the job.
There are many wood turners who take students and there is a formal NCEA qualification in wood turning available. Not sure if that counts as hand tools though.
Thank you so much I will follow up and contact them
