What’s a good substitute for ebony?  I’m thinking about using Maple with black aniline dye.

Making some picture frames, and she wants them out of oak with a black band running around the frame.  Made some frames for the same lady about 4 years ago out of oak with a band of purple heart running around it. She loved it, now she wants black instead of purple.
