Hi guys and gals, this is my first post on here I think…just getting into the hobby and am going to get a jointer, either the sunhill or jet 6″ models. Both have same price, which one would you guys reccomend? The only real difference I can find in them is the jet’s cutterhead is jackscrew vs sunhill’s gibbed/lockbar style and the jet claims a 4800 rpm vs 4500 for the sunhill.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks….

Does the Sunhill still have longer beds? The Jet will likely have better resale, even though it may be no better than the Sunhill.
thanks for the reply scottwood...yes the sunhill does have 4" longer beds I think. I'm just not sure if I should buy one of these or hold out for an 8" model...
If you're even remotely thinking 8", go for it!
If you going to buy a 8in. jointer Take a look at this Powermatic its a real sweet machine, I've used this one at a friends house and he loves it. Good luck.

thanks for the replies guys...I've decided to hold out for an 8" model...I think that's the best thing to do since I want it to be a purchase that will last a lifetime!
