Easy - peezy. Just call the 800 Delta tech line, and they will fix you up.
Be sure to have the model and serial number of the saw when you call.

That exact switch has not been available for decades. Delta won't know what you are talking about. No one there old enough to remember. You can replace it with a heavy duty double pole togle switch from the hardware store. I have a few of those Delta Unisaw switches but I won't sell them, collectors item. The two piece box, name plate and switch in good condition will fetch over $150 on ebay. Saw one with the red name plate go for more than $350.

Who says he has to have the exact same switch?Delta will be able to fix him up with something that will work -- which unless he knows about this kind of stuff, is better than going to a local hardware store and taking your chances.********************************************************

> Who says he has to have the exact same switch? No one so far.I'd like to think he'll get someone with a clue if he calls Delta, but that's no longer guaranteed. I'm sure they do sell a replacement for the 152 switch though.Another possible source for an appropriate switch would be a local electric motor shop. Don't let them sell you a $100+ new mag starter, this replacement should be cheap. One other thing to pay attention to is grounding. The machine should have a three-prong plug with a ground wire that goes to the cabinet and the frame of the motor. Most likely it does not have that right now.Pete

For added safety, consider a magnetic switch. If you need more power, consider a 3 HP 220 volt motor and matching magnetic switch. That would make it just like a new one except better quality. I wish I could speak from experience but this is the consensus I have gotten from others
Appropriate switches turn up on ebay all the time. So do manual and magnetic starters. You might also check out http://www.plazamachinery.com. They could get you something appropriate.
As another poster mentioned, the original switch (even not working) is worth big bucks, so don't throw it away.

You can buy paddle swiches from Grizzly. When you look at the wire connections are they the spade type?Delta and grizzly use the same type of switch on the newer machines that are 115 volts.I recently put a new grizzzly paddle switch in a delta drill press.Every thing was exactly the same, spade connectors, same size switch etc.The switch is about $4.00.

thank you all for responses i appreciate them and yes i'll save the old switch i save everything
The last time I priced a magnetic switch replacement for my Unisaw from Delta, they gave me a price of $175. Are there other sources for magnetic switches that are more reasonably priced?
Grizzly, Woodworkers Supply have some cheap mag switches. I get some priced between the Delta and the Grizzly from my electric motor repair shop. European brand. Try your local motor shop. It's a good source to be used when needed.
There are lots of used ones available, and there are very few things that can go wrong short of total burnout. The most common problem is dirty contacts which are easily remedied with sandpaper or a points file.Used magnetic starters turn up on Ebay, though ones with enclosures (the box) are less common. I had good luck recently with some used starter parts that I bought from Southland Electrical Supply:http://www.southlandelectric.com/I'm sure Plaza machinery could help you out also:http://www.plazamachinery.com/they only take fax now, but it's worth asking.Pete

A better hardware store or Graingers will have a "motor starter" switch. they are rated by horsepower and cost $10.
