I’ve finally built several jigs for my shop and I have to install ‘t-bolt tracks on them. ( One is an extended table for my drill press. ) I tend to over-build jigs, putting in more bracing and screws than I should. I’ve cut the proper size groove for them. Now my question… Should I glue AND screw them into the slot or just use screws. They will be mounted in 3/4″, cabinet grade plywood with a laminate top. If I should only use screws, what length?? 3/8 or 1/2 and file off the screw points that stick through?? Thanks, SawdustSteve

Loaded question ! Depends on how much clamping pressure you use, and whether or not the track face is horizontal or vertical. If face is vertical the dado will do 99% of the work. If horizontal the screws that come with t-track are pretty small and widely spaced, add extra screws and glue. Toilet bowl flange bolts work best(for use in the track) as the heads are thinner than standard 1/4-20 heads and don't catch on the screws if they're not counter sunk enough and slide much better through the track.

Son of a B----!! I never thought of that. I bet I have bought a dozen flange bolts and it never even occured to me that they might fit in the T-slots. Ill be.
To the poster. I use glue and screws. Though it wasn't enough for the fence tracks on my router table, so I had to use machine screws with nuts under the table. But that is with very heavy use.Pardon my spelling,
Mike
Make sure that your next project is beyond your skill and requires tools you don't have. You won't regret it.
Definitely use the screws that don't come through. And, how much you need to secure it is dependant on how much load you think it will see.
That said, gluing the track in can not hurt anything unless you want to take things apart. You can also use machine screws and t-nuts, or just plain nuts, if your not real worried about the cosmetics.
I recently built a small drill press table out of MDF with laminate and put t-tracks for both hold downs and the fence. It being MDF, I was concerned that screws (especially the small ones that I had to use in the t-track) would eventually pull out. So I used bolts that went all of the way through the table with a counterbore to accomodate a washer and nut. This resulted in being able to crank down on the bolt and have the whole set-up be flush on the bottom.
