I'm confused. With usual terminology, 8x8 means 8" wide by 8" thick by some unspecified length. Do you mean something else, or do you have these heavy timbers that you want to breakdown into smaller sizes?
If you mean 8" wide by 8' long.. I would use my panel or crosscut jig with a roller support stand supporting the long end of the board through the cut.
I am assuming you mean dimmensioned lumber (Beams?). I would set up a crosscut stop on the waste side of the blade and locate it operator side of the blade(closer to you than the blade) so the offcut is not bound btw the blade and the stop. Set up a few work support stands (rollers, helpers, etc.) for the other end.
I wouldn't even try to do this on a TS if the stock is more than about 2' long. Just use a circular saw or a hand saw to cut honkers like this to length. As for ripping them to size after they are cut to length, you must have one serious TS to rip 8" stock!
