When I raise or lower my saw blade it moves after I turn it on. It is a Delta contractor saw. What is happening?

Do you mean that the height is changing, probably dropping a bit?

Yes, the height is dropping. I tighten the backlash and it seems to help somewhat.

Always start low and raise the blade to the height you want, if you overshoot, back down and start over again, this will avoid most backlash problems. Make sure the gears and pivots are lubed so that everything moves smoothly.John W.
