Table Saw blade height adjustment reliability
Hi folks,
My first post here, althought I’ve been a long time subscriber to the FWW paper magazine, it’s the first time I decide to get in touch with you all.
I have an issue with my table saw I would like to submit here.
I own a Scheppach Precisa 3 table saw, maybe it’s not a common brand in America, it is a reasonably good German brand quite popular here in Europe, I would not say it is high end, but certainly a good medium end.
It is this one :

I’ve had it for 5 years and been happy with it.
But now I have an issue with it, it’s about the blade height adjustment wich is not reliable and sturdy enough any more.
When I set it up to a certain height, I have noticed that the set height moves (sometimes downward, sometimes upward), when I switch the motor on. (2300W)
I also had initially a lot of backlash in the crank wheel, but I have since fixed everything, cleaned up, lubricated, set up every thing clean and reduced all possible play in the mechanism.
However, I still have this visible vertical shift of the blade when I power on the saw.
I was wondering is someone has already had this issue and how to fix it ?
There is something I didn’t changed so far, it is the belt tension, quite loose, but I don’t know if this has something to see with my issue.
Any idea welcome !
Thanks

This sounds like there is a loose bolt somewhere.
For there to be movement under load, something that should be solid is not.
The loose belt tension might be caused by a loose bolt holding the arbor.
I would suggest stripping the saw down, even removing the table and check all the connections.
Without the table in the way, it should be possible to see what is moving when the saw blade is fired up.
Hi Rob,
Thanks for the answer.
I think you were right, I spent my whole day disassembling the saw and readjusting everything.
I didn't find any loose bolt, but I found that the main part of the phenomenon was caused by wear in different pieces of the mechanism, the shaft of the gear of the worm gear and also the connecting rod between the gear and the blade arm.
I should have greased these before wear happen ..
Anyway, I have reduced all these plays with various tricks and now, it's pretty good, almost no noticeable shift when I start the motor.
I took the opportunity to also reset the blade alignment with the table slot, and also all the carriage settings.
I think it's never been as well set up in the past :).
Thanks
