I’m wondering what you think is the best way to store 10″ table saw blades. I’d like to find a space-efficient way to store about 12 of them in a cabinet that will fit under my extension table. Also, does it matter whether they’re stored vertically or horizontally?

FWIW - I recently saw an article, not sure if it was FWW or another magazine (plasphemy), but it had a horizontal storage unit made of an open-ended plywood box with simple dado notches in the sides and plywood shelves slid into the dado grooves (maybe an inch apart), some 12 inches tall by 12 inches wide, and just glued together. Slide the blades into each the slots and you have storage that will fit under the extension table. Horizontal storage just seems to make sense, but I am not sure that it really matters as long as the carbide is touching wood. One thing is that, horizontally, the blades will not have tendency to roll out of their storage bin.
Hi Quonset:
We just published an article that shows a nice way to store tablesaw blades horizontally.
Here's a link. An image is on the second page of the article.

The shelf unit shown in the article linked to in the previous post is a common design that works well, we have the same type of cabinet in the Fine Woodworking shop. You need to have each section at least about 3/4" wide to leave room for your fingers to pick up the blade.
You can reduce the height if you make the shelves loose enough in their dados so that the shelf can be slid out. If you make the shelf removable, you need to glue a small round disc, the diameter of the arbor hole, in the center of each shelf to keep the blade from sliding off accidentally.
Blades are not affected by being stored horizontally or vertically.
