Good Morning and Happy Father’s Day to everyone,
My question is I have a Delta 10″ contractors table saw and cannot get the blade to lock at any position. Also, to raise or lower the blade is not a smooth operation. Any suggestions?????

I would give it a good cleaning. Vacuum out the sawdust and lube. Check for any loose bolts.

Sounds like it is time for a cleaning and lubrication. Use paste wax on the heli worm gears that raise/lower and tilt the blade. Use a toothbrush ot apply the wax. Turn the crank to get to all of the gear. Wax is an excellent low speed lubricant and sawdust will not stick to it. A little white grease on the bearings for the shafts of the adjusting mechanism and a drop of 20 weight electric motor oil on the arbor bearings and things should again operate smoothly.
Now, when you say the "blade won't lock" do you mean that the raising and lowering mechanism won't lock when you twist the locking knob?
Howie, Thanks for the info, and yes the locking mechanism to lock the blade height does not tighten to lock it in place.......

Lisa, how old is the Delta saw?? Have you owned it since it was new?? I know that the locking mechanism can get worn on older, well-used saws -- this was a problem with the Jet saw I recently replaced. If cleaning everything and lubing doesn't solve the problem, let me know, I can send you a copy of an internet article on how the Jet's are repaired, should be similar for the Delta. Unfortunately, the web site that had that article is no longer live.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Hi Forestgirl,
The saw is about 6 or 7 years old, and I'm the original owner. I'm going to try to clean and lube everything today. If it doesn't seem to help, I'll get back to you about the article.
Thanks, Lisa
You should be in luck. 6-7 years isn't that old, unless you've been tightening the wheel with a vengeance. Good luck!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

Send to [email protected]
Thanks
