I have noticed this Winter that my table saw fence is off by 1/16 to 1/32 of an inch. When I set it for 2 ½ in. I get 2 9/16 to 2 17/32 inches. My shop is in an unheated basement where the temperature can get as low as 48 F. Could it be that the fence is getting cold enough to shrink that much? My saw is a General 50-185 with the standard General T fence.
Yours truly
Fred

F,
48 degrees probably will not cause shrinkage.
Are you measuring with the built in tape on the saw or are you measuring by hand from the blade to the rip fence? We encourage you to measure from the blade to the rip fence always. In addition, make sure your blade is parallel to the rip fence as this can cause cuts to be off.

Glastarza,I usually do both but the tape guide is/was right on. So I was surprised when I checked a piece that I had cut and found it to be off.F
