I describe a method for resawing on the tablesaw towards the end of my article on "Tablesaw Techniques" (link below). The main thing to remember is to not fully cut through the board on your second pass. This prevents the kerf from closing on the blade while you hold and feed the stock.

I prefer a vacuum fence. Here's a link to my setup.

Now that I have it, I find it helps to control all my ripping cuts.
There is more information in various places. Do a search in Knots on the exact phrase "vacuum fence" or in Google.
Moral of the story: for narrow boards, a bandsaw is not required.
