p,
that is rather cool. i would wager that most of us have space/storage conundrums. in my shop the space you posted is taken up by the 12"planer and its stand.

Ahh, you modified that shelf, good move. I like the drawers better than the open arrangement I built for the ol' Unisaw.
Off topic: Does your mobile base works well? Mine has been a complete bust.
yes my mobile base has always worked well. I have the base from Delta for the Unisaw. Wierd I have never had a problem with mine.
Yep, I have the same base. Last year, I tried to troubleshoot and fix it, with no luck. Has fallen very far down the list of priorities now. Glad your's is a good one! forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
What is the problem? It won't lift? or what?
Sorry I left it hanging like that, I hesitate to get into it -- it's like opening an old wound, LOL. It doesn't lift enough to do any good. When the center wheel is engaged, the pads on the far end (under the end of the table) barely clear the floor, which I could live with, but the pads under the saw frame are firmly anchored. They can't be adjusted up any further than they are. I don't see any bend in the metal assembly that's associated with the middle wheel (some people have had that assembly bend or break).
I've pretty much decided that when I have time, I'll just make my own mobile base, or possibly just rig something up that can work with the Delta base-frame and move the saw around.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
This will be my last message on the subject if this is note what you want to talk about. Maybe the wheel is on backwards? The wheel should be to the right as you face the saw. I have had two unisaws w the mobile base - works perfect. Something is wrong....
Yep, it's to the right. Woe is me, I know somethin's not right, just not seeing what.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Mobile base
Forestgirl , my base no longer works. I added a piece of 1/4 steal to increase the fulcrum effect it works a little,
FG has "left the forest"
So, she's not likely to see your recent reply.
Must be the base you have. I have a mobile base for my General saw. It will roll over cords and 1/4" plywood.
Bought mine at the same time as the saw. Mine has 2 pedals which you push down with the toe of your shoe. There is one on the right and left of the saw. When moving lift up the pedals and it lowers the front of the saw down. Mine is about 4 yrs old now and still works awesome.
It's even adjustable for diffent saw sizes. But it did take a little to get it the right size and under the saw.
Your's is a different design than the Delta base-and-extension set that's made for the 52" Unisaw. For that one (mine) there is one wheel in the center (lengthwise), 18" or so from the body of the saw, that uses a lever to engage that wheel. The other wheels are fixed on the LH side of the saw. It's supposed to lift the "feet" that are on the RH side of the saw, and at the end of the extension table, enabling one to move the whole shebang.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Thats very odd, I've never seen a factory Unisaw base that didn't work perfectly.
When I get a minute I'll take some measurements off mine and maybe we can figure out whats wrong with yours.

I'd sponsor a trip to Bainbridge, complete with a nice lunch, if you'd come down here and fix it! Drives me nuts not being able to move the darned thing, but I've spent a ton of tiime trying to figure it out, just flat gave up. forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I'll see what I can do to free up a day this month.

Same base here. Worked perfectly from day 1. Hmmmmmmmmmm. No answer without seeing photos, I guess. Is your floor reasonably level?
Good luck.
Mine works perfectly, it's Forestgirls that has a problem.

yeah - I was sitting on the wrong entry when I hit reply.
Forestgirl,
Sorry to open up this can of worms, but I think like some others here that this can be fixed. I have had two delta saws w the rolling base for both and they work perfict!
Good luck hope someone can fix it.
