Tabletop issues in high humidity open air environment
Hey everyone,
Trying to finish off my table I’ve made and didn’t expect so many issues with the tabletop. We’re moving soon, so really motivated to finish.
heres the brief:
I live in Thailand and monsoon season is approaching, humidity has ranged from 50-90% depending on the day and average daily temp is 95F. They don’t have garages here, it’s a covered driveway I use.
I’m trying to attach the top to the apron using wooden L shapes mounts I made (they don’t have z clips here). Even still, the edges past the apron curl/ cup upward.
I would love to hear if anyone has any ideas how to get and keep this top straight. I’ve done c channels already, the specs on the wood are 8” pine boards 96” long (would have loved a hardwood but pine was the only affordable that was baked, rubber wood was fresh cut and teak cost prohibitive). It’s not quarter sawn, just take what you can get here.
Please let me know if you have any ideas to remedy this. I understand the preventative stuff, more looking for how to correct this and keep it straight.
This idea is a little bogus, but I’m about to consider drilling pilot holes and sticking metal rods to help stiffen the wood ends where they curl upward.
Appreciate your feedback!

Is it an indoor, or outdoor table? More specifically, does the top get wet and dry out repeatedly?
It’s going to be a kitchen table indoors. Will put poly on it
Wait until after your move and put it in the room where it will live for a month or so before you try to fix it.
