Mackwood said it is probably Indian. Upon closer examination - I notice a Mecca outlined with the brass stringing - so I think it is Indian - who can help me guess about the age?

Wow. Looks very nice from the pics. I would suggest taking it into an antique shop in your area. Also, I would search for message boards related to vintage Militaria.
I sent the pictures to a guy on line who deals in antique swords. He didn't mention the place of creation - but he states the sword is a recent vintage antique style sword made with an older brass guard. He asked if I was willing to sell him the sword so he could use the old guard to refurbish another sword.
