I am looking for a good source to purchase a tail vise. Any suggestions?

If you mean the ones found on traditional cabinetmaker's benches, then try http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.asp?SID=&page=31136&category=1%2C41659%2C41662&ccurrency=2
It is made in the Czech Republic and sold under the Veritas brand name. Woodcraft also sells a tail vise. Their version is made in Germany. The screw action and the fit and finish is better in my opinion, but it should be considering it costs almost twice as much as the Veritas.
I'd sugggest reading the relevant parts of The Workbench Book, ordering the screw/sliding-box hardware from Lee Valley, and building the wooden body around it per the instructions in the book. That's what I did, and it worked out beautifully-- it's simple, it's not all that expensive, and it works.
