I am needing to fix a tambour top in a roll top desk. The existing cloth backing is still stuck well, but brittle. I am thinking of just going over top of it rather than trying to remove it all. Some of it has been repaired by DPO (dreaded prior owner) with Gorilla Glue, as evidenced by the foam out.
My initial plan was to use hide glue. I noted to add a little glycerin for flexibility. A roll top I made 20 some years ago I just used Titebond and it’s been fine all this time. But after I left the fabric/crafts store, I wondered about the “Tacky Glue”, which is a thick, clear-drying, somewhat flexible glue. Assuming the glue it over the old is a plan, I’m really gluing fabric to fabric.
So blinded by paralysis by analysis, I’m wondering pros and cons of each choice. Gorilla Glue is not a choice, IMHO.

I haven't done it myself, but the hide glue + glycerine has been well recommended.
