Folks,
I teach an afterschool WW handtool class to 9-13 yr/olds. I’m thinking
of including a project that would utilize a tap and thread box. I haven’t
used one in years. To those who know this tool better than I..Do you
see any reason why I should not include this tool in my program?
For example, will it require too much arm strength, be too hard to adjust,
break quickly, and so on.. Any tips about which threadbox to order would
be helpfull as well.
Thanks much,
GRW

Although the idea sounds great, I suspect that it would be an exercise in frustration for the kids. From what I've read, the tap and thread boxes that actually worked well are no longer available, and the currently-available products are pretty expensive. Then, there's the issue of the quality and nature of the wood being threaded, which often results in the cut threads breaking, rendering the object useless.
