I like to turned chisel and awl handles. I am looking for a source to purchase tapered brass ferrules. If anyone knows of a source please respond.

Why do they have to be tapered?
Buy the closest diameter brass pipe nipple, jam a dowel in it and chuck it in the drill press. Use a hacksaw blade to lose the threads and establish the baseline. Use files to taper, then complete the baseline cut.
compression ferrule from piping supply company would work, but you'd need to do some work on them. cut them in half to get a nice shoulder.
