Hi
I am new to wood working and could use a little help. I just finished reading a article called A Better Tapering Jig by Richard W. Beebe II. My questiion is in the Adobe Reader artical is kind of shows the plan for making the jig but it does not give the demention for all the parts. Am I just to new to woodworking and don’t understand or are the demenions left out so you have to purchase the plans.

You probably need to buy the plans or the magazine for the dimensions. The problem I see with this one, unless the fence was on his left side and out of the picture, is that it uses the miter slot and limits the size of the pieces being tapered. Rockler sells an aluminum one for about $15 and butts against the fence, so the size isn't an issue. There are books dealing specifically with jigs and fixtures that you may be able to get other ideas from.
Thanks for your input. I kind of figured it was something like that. Seems everything that has to do with free has some information missing. I was hoping to make my own but now I think I will take the easy way out.
Thanks

You can still make your own, just go and look at the one at Rockler and use wood instead of aluminum.
"I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."
Go to the General Tab, then select the advanced search and search for tapering jig. I remember there was a discussion on these a while ago and there was mention of plans for one that was much better than the aluminum ones you can buy at Rockler or elsewhere.
