I’m in the midst of a home renovation which entails duplicating molding and woodwork throughout my 125 year old house. One of the elements with which I am having particular difficulty is fluted panels. The ends of the plunge cuts are tapered as opposed to a “dead end”. What’s the best way to uniformly taper the entry and exit of the router bit. My sanity and a good night’s rest hang in the balance!!

Hi Ronnie,
I wouldn't taper the router cut. I'd make the full cut and taper the panel later either with a hand plane, a pass through the table saw if the panel isn't too big or a pass with a straight router bit held at the angle to give you the desired taper. Good luck sleeping. Your sanity is in other hands. Best. Gary
