You may recall a few weeks ago I submitted a post asking if others had had bypass surgery, as I just had, and recovered adequately to work again. Several of you folks offered info and encouragement, and it meant a lot.
I’m happy to say that just about 6 weeks down the road I feel better than I have in years, have tons of energy (until I run out and have to go take a nap!), and my biggest problem is remembering that I’m only supposed to pick up 10 lb. or less for a couple of months yet.
Thanks again to all!

Chad,
Nice to hear things are going well...thanks for stoping back in and providing a follow-up. Those naps can be really good for you especially if it's late morning and mid to late afternoon....that is the time of day you have a growth hormone release which really helps your body repair itself...these are small releases but every bit helps...

My mother-in-law had a heart trans-plant 6 years ago. You would never guess it. The heart came from a 16 year old teen girl in a traffic fatally. Don't ask me how, but she's been acting like she's "sweet 16" since.
So with no further ado, go lift some 5 lb. wieghts. Pretty soon it will be 10, then 20, then whatever comes after that. I run out of toes and fingers past 20. You know, pretty soon it'll be real heavy. :>)
Sincere wish for a full recovery...

Fantastic, Chad! Thanks for giving us an update, and you be sure to save enough energy to check in at Knots once when awhile.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
That's great news. Glad to hear things worked out so well for you.

Chad,
Great news. I'm happy to hear things are working out well. My mother's husband (It seems silly to call him my step-father because I was thirty-something when they married) had bypass surgery, and after he had recovered he went to the YMCA to work out every day, played golf once or twice a week, and puttered around in the garden. He lived into his nineties, active and happy.
Take care--take MUCH care,
Alan
Thanks, everyone, for your good thoughts, kind words, and encouragement. You might like to know that I spent the afternoon in my shop, strategizing how I'm going to build a new front storm door for my mother without lifting more than 10 pounds! Heh, heh, heh,...(Plane blades are going to have to be real sharp...)
