I have the Akeda BC24 jig. After messing with the new Porter Cable Omnijig, I sold it and bought the Akeda. It is a versatile jig, extremely intuitive and easy to set up. Also, the unique design allows for repeatable dovetail or box joints. You can make the exact same joint at any time, which you can't do with any other jig with exact repeatability. I use it all the time, making clean, attractive, well fitting joints for many of my furniture pieces.
I suggest that you check out other woodworking forums, including SawMill Creek (www.sawmillcreek.org) and Woodnet (www.woodnet.net) forums, for a lot of opinions and reviews on the Akeda jigs, as well as others.
Take the plunge; you'll be glad you did.
I've got a friend who is also
I've got a friend who is also a pro woodworker who has been using the Akeda for a number of years and he loves it. I'm tempted.
