I’m looking for a multi purpose lathe for bowls and spindle turning, outboard turning would be good. $2000 or less. Does anyone have on opinion on the best buy? I’ve looked at the Delta 46-745 and Nova DVR 3000.

the general 260 series will let you out turn.
a general 160 is $1900 canadian. I have one and I really like it. it has outboard turning and a 12" swing, and hardly any vibration at all. oneway also makes a really nice lathe but i think it's a bit over $2000 US. you can't go wrong with either of these lathes, and both are IMO much better than the delta. I haven't seen a Nova up close so i can't comment on it though. if you don't want to go over your budget then the general is an excellent choice. hope this helps
I realize I posted this a while back, but check out Harbor Freight (REALLY!). They now sell the Australian WoodFast Lathe which is a great machine. $1200 or $1900 depending on model. (I can't remember which turning school it was, but one of them advertises having this machine along with Conover and Oneway.)

Yes, Woodfast is a pretty well respected name in lathes from what my initial research into the subject suggested.
