EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!
I just pledged to UNC.org for throwing these shows on the website. I've been waiting years for that to happen. Hopefully earlier seasons will be available eventually.

I have a bunch of WRS shows on vhs tapes from the old days. I have been watching Roy for about 25 years. I live in Durham, NC and thats where the opening scene is taped where he arrives at the shop on the Eno River. The music is from the Red Clay Ramblers who got their recording start in Durham, NC. Enough. If you want a photo of the shop as she sits today, maybe I can give it a try.
Roy does all his filming for the shows now over in Raleigh, not Durham at the original shop. Its mostly studio set ups but its pretty neat. The local woodworking club(Triangle Woodworkers) did a bunch of volunteer work for the annual fundraiser in this area and part of the deal was to get to see how the show is taped. To keep it simple: Roy is a very flexible guy.
Roy is a local Tar Heel who has "done good" with his work. People here are very proud of his work and support him any way possible. Its really great to see a guy who is still so "fired up" about woodworking after all these years. I think he spends most of his time now in the Williamsburg VA area?? He'll be at the FWW/CW conference on tools this year so maybe I can get a photo or two. It would be really nice to see some of the old episodes on line. I am not sure that will happen?? They sell the episodes much like the NYWS stuff. We'll see.

I've always wanted to visit the actual shop but wasn't sure where it was located. My understanding is that it's actually an old blacksmith shop. I've had the pleasure of meeting Roy a couple of times. First time was in Indy at Conner's Prairie and the other was at my local Woodcraft. He's a real down to earth guy who was nicer in person than I had imagined.
Dan,
What does NYWS stand for?
Thanks,
Don

sorry
wow, this is outstanding being able to watch these whenever I want to. my local pbs station tends to give Roy short shrift, and the national pbs doesn't seem to care much about selling dvd's of his shows either.
I hope UNCtv can put more of the older seasons on as time goes by.
I had problems watching the 2006 shows, I would get and error message saying it timed out after about 3 minutes. no trouble with at least one of the 2007 shows however.
I have watched the 2600 series in the past without problems. Could be something with the band width available near you at the time you tried to view. I have DSL and use the High Speed. Have you tried the Low Speed connection option? You can download the videos and watch later if you want. Real Player allows you to save the video if you want to.

jquinn, try upgrading your RealPlayer. 2007 and 2006 work fine for me after I upgraded.
